Blue Key Honor Society Board of Directors
2012-2026Richard Hester was initiated into Blue Key in 1989 while in graduate school and started assisting with Blue Key events and activities. He was the primary Blue Key advisor at UWA from 2010-2015. Richard served as the National Board Secretary from 2012-2020 and as the UWA representative to the National Board from 2020 until 2025 (after the relocation of the National Office and Archives to the UWA campus). Mr. Hester began his career at UWA as an Admissions Counselor in 1985 and then became Director of Admissions before moving to Student Life. He was named as Vice President of Student Affairs in 2016 and retired from UWA in 2021.

Dr. Chris Sieverdes has served Blue Key for a total of 30 years of which the first twenty were as Advisor to Blue Key at Clemson University. In 2000, he also led a group of advisors and students to administer Blue Key at the national level. He served as Blue Key Executive Director from 2002 through 2016. He was Professor and Community Development Specialist at Clemson University until his retirement in 2006. At Clemson he won two of the University’s most prestigious awards: The “1985 Alumni Master Teacher Award (top classroom teacher)” and the 1996 Alumni Distinguished Public Service Award for his leadership of the Palmetto Leadership Program with the Extension Service. He has three children – Clemson graduates.

2002-2021Bob Izlar, a member of Blue Key and Advisor to the UGA Chapter, has been involved with Blue Key since 1998. As the Founding Director of the Harley Langdale, Jr. Center for Forest Business in the Warnell School of Forest Resources at The University of Georgia, Bob has mentored hundreds of UGA graduates and Blue Key members during his tenure. Bob has been awarded numerous honors at the Blue Key national level, including the National Advisor of the Year award in both 2005 and 2015 and the Distinguished Service Award in 2021.
