“Chadron State College has always been proud of its affiliation with Blue Key” remarked Blue Key advisor Alex Helmbrecht. Recently, the Chadron State College chapter purchased the Official Blue Key Chapter Roll Book that is available on the online Blue Key store with the intention of recording all new member signatures. “We thought the roll book would be a neat way to honor on history”

After receiving a digital copy of all members ever to be recorded for Chadron State College from the Blue Key National Office  Project Coordinator Kate Pope volunteered her services and began writing the names of all initiates dating back to the chapter’s founding in 1932. Now, when members are inducted into Blue Key, they are asked to place their signature next to their names on this document.

The Blue Key National Office had an opportunity to speak with Blue Key advisor Alex Helmbrecht about this undertaking:

  • What prompted you to take on this project?

    • Chadron State College has always been proud of its affiliation with Blue Key and the current membership thought the roll book would be a neat way to honor our history.

  • What do the current members thinking about the official chapter roll book?

    • The members think highly of the roll book. I’ve heard a few of them say they think it’s cool to tie our history to the present. We’ve had members join Blue Key at Chadron State College since 1932 – so we have a lot of names in this book – and the current members like seeing the names of former members decades ago next to their name.

  • Would you recommend this to other chapters?

    • Yes, I would. It’s a great way to showcase the history of your chapter.

Chapter merchandise including a Charter, chapter roll book, graduation regalia, and other items are available via the online Blue Key store
